JAMB Announces Date For Commencement of 2020 Admission Exercise The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has sent the guidelines institutions are to follow for the conduct of the 2020/2021 admission process. The JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede warned the heads of institutions against flouting the guidelines and decisions established at the 2020 Policy meeting that was held on June 16th, 2020. According to JAMB, admission for first and second choice are to begin August 21st, 2020. He however, stated the deadline will be determined by the Federal Ministry of Education and communicated to all the institutions as the uncertainties of COVID 19 makes it impossible to fix a specific deadline at this time. WAEC Considering Postponement Of WASSCE - FG - FG claims WAEC is considering shifting 2020 WASSCE. - Recall the FG schools will not be participating in the examination. - Meanwhile, schools have been asked to prepare their facilities for resumption. As coronavirus continues to ravage every facet of the world's economy and activities, Nigeria's Federal government has declared that the West African Examination Council (WAEC) is considering shifting the date of its exam. This was disclosed in a statement by the director of information, Federal ministry of education, Ben Goong. He quoted Emeka Nwajiuba, minister of state for education, as saying this as a result of a meeting held recently, The Cable reports. Going further, he added that schools have been given till July 29 to ensure that their facilities are ready for resumption. He said this must be in line with the guidelines issued by the ministry of education for safe reopening of places of learning.

As the debate continues on re-opening of schools in Nigeria, amid a spike in COVID-19 infections across the country, unions in the nation’s education sector have given conditions for the reopening of schools in the country. WHO Urges Safety As African Airlines Begin Operation The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for caution as African airlines begin operations in various countries. The WHO said strict measures should be observed to prevent surges in Coronavirus infections. The organisation urged governments to ensure airlines take the information of passengers travelling and follow up with them to prevent outbreaks.
